Welsh Mummy Blogs Chats to Molly Lanaghan – Bringing Tinker Bell to Life in Peter Pan on Ice!

Right, mams, dads, grandparents and all you lovers of a little bit of Christmas magic… I have a VERY exciting chat to share with you!

I recently caught up with Molly Lanaghan, who will be bringing the cheeky and magical Tinker Bell to life in the spectacular Peter Pan on Ice, which is gliding into Bath this Christmas before heading to Shrewsbury in January!

And Molly is certainly no stranger to the ice. If you’ve watched Dancing on Ice, you may recognise her from her incredible partnership with Sam Aston, which saw them crowned the winners in 2025!

So, of course, I couldn’t resist having a chat with Molly about her skating journey, winning Dancing on Ice, becoming Tinker Bell and what audiences can expect when Peter Pan on Ice arrives!

From Watching Dancing on Ice to Becoming a Champion

We started by chatting about how Molly first discovered her love of skating.

Molly told me that it was actually watching Dancing on Ice that captivated her and inspired her to get involved with skating herself. There’s something about watching people glide around that ice, performing incredible routines, that makes it look completely magical!

As our conversation continued, I asked Molly when she first realised that she might actually be pretty good at this skating lark!

She said she realised fairly quickly, but one particular moment really made it sink in. After teaching an adult to dance on ice, Molly suddenly thought, wow, I’m actually good at this!

And when something comes naturally to you like that, I imagine it’s a pretty special feeling.

Of course, we couldn’t chat to Molly without talking about her incredible Dancing on Ice journey.

Molly and Sam Aston were crowned champions in 2025, and when she spoke about their winning performance, you could really hear how special that moment was for her.

She remembered just how much they connected during their performance of Torvill and Dean’s famous gold-medal-winning Boléro.

Molly described how they were both smiling and looking into each other’s eyes while they performed, and said it felt magical.

And I think that’s what makes performances like that so special. It’s not just about the skating, it’s about the emotion, connection and story you’re telling through the performance.

Welcome to Neverland!

But now Molly is swapping the Dancing on Ice rink for somewhere rather more magical…

Neverland!

We got chatting about Peter Pan on Ice and what made her want to take on the role of Tinker Bell.

Molly explained that she’s a big fan of Peter Pan, so when the opportunity came along to perform the story live on ice, she jumped at the chance.

And she clearly loves performing in front of an audience.

Molly told me that skating in front of a live audience really makes her happy and, as she pointed out, performers LOVE a good audience!

So… How Much Is Molly Like Tinker Bell?

Now, obviously, I couldn’t chat to someone playing Tinker Bell without asking whether there are any similarities between Molly and her mischievous character!

And Molly’s answer made me laugh.

She said there definitely is one similarity – she’s only 5ft 2in, so the height definitely matches!

Although Molly was quick to point out that she’s not quite as stroppy as Tink.

I’ll let you decide on that one when you see her on the ice!

A Little Sneak Peek at Peter Pan on Ice

Naturally, I wanted to find out what audiences can expect when they step into the magical world of Neverland.

Molly couldn’t give away too many spoilers, but she did give us a little taste of what’s coming.

We’re talking aerial extravaganzas, lots of lights and plenty of magic!

Now, I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a pretty magical family day out to me.

There’s something about seeing a story you’re familiar with completely transformed into a live ice spectacular. Add skating, aerial performances, lights and all those much-loved Peter Pan characters, and you’ve got a festive adventure that sounds pretty special.

And Then We Had to Talk Christmas!

Of course, this is Welsh Mummy Blogs, so there was absolutely no way I was going to let Molly escape without a little Christmas chat!

We started talking about Christmas traditions, and Molly told me that for her, Christmas is really about being with family.

There’s no getting dressed up and making everything overly formal either. Molly prefers a much more relaxed Christmas, with family time, pyjamas at 5pm and Christmas movies!

Now THAT sounds like my kind of Christmas.

And when it comes to Christmas films, Molly’s favourite is The Holiday.

She also loves Love Actually, anything with a bit of romance.

So we’ve discovered Molly is a talented ice skater, Dancing on Ice champion, future Tinker Bell… and a fan of a good Christmas rom-com!
