Halloween at St Fagans: A Spooktacular Night of Welsh History, Folklore and Family Fun! Posted on October 30, 2026 By admin Well, well, well… what can I say? St Fagans has wowed families once again with its Halloween Nights! And if you know me, you’ll know that combining Welsh history, folklore and a little paranormal activity is pretty much my idea of a perfect evening. Running from 29–31 October, St Fagans’ Halloween Nights are a ticketed event, and tickets sell out quickly, so if you’re planning to visit next year, make sure you book early! So, what can you expect? A frightfully good evening filled with Welsh history, folklore, spooky storytelling and plenty of family entertainment. St Fagans is hands down my favourite museum in Wales, but experiencing it after dark was something else entirely. The atmosphere was fantastic. Walking between the historic buildings, with the darkness settling around us, every step seemed to ooze history and atmosphere. As someone with a love of all things paranormal, I was absolutely in my element! But don’t be thinking this event is just for the ghost hunters and paranormal enthusiasts. There’s genuinely something for everyone in the family, whether you love history, enjoy spotting spooky characters, fancy a ride on the traditional fairground or simply want to indulge in some freshly cooked hot doughnuts! Spooky stories and fantastic actors One of our favourite parts of the evening was seeing the actors dotted around the site, each bringing their own characters and stories to life. They were brilliant at getting into character and giving visitors a good scare along the way!Battle-off with actor at St Fagans 🤣😅😅 #welshmummy #comedy #funny #halloween #welshfolklore Our favourite story was that of the Miller’s Wife, told inside the old mill. There was something about hearing the tale in such a historic setting that made it extra atmospheric. It definitely added to the spooky feeling! I absolutely loved seeing families wandering around the site, many dressed up in their Halloween costumes. There’s something lovely about an event where everyone gets involved and embraces the occasion. Halloween costumes and a little future career inspiration! Of course, my two boys had to get involved with the dressing up. My eldest went as Ghostface and stayed in character for pretty much the entire evening. In fact, he was regularly being asked by parents to pose for photographs with their children! He absolutely loved it. He’s hoping to become a scare actor when he leaves school, so I suppose you could call this a little bit of work experience! My youngest went as Jack the Ripper and particularly enjoyed the Halloween disco and all the sweet treats on offer. Both boys also thoroughly enjoyed the spell-making workshop. Having grown up with a witchy mum, they certainly knew what they wanted! They were happily asking the witches for particular herbs and essential oils to include in their magical creations. I think my influence may have rubbed off on them! The Wicker Man – A magical Welsh finale Now, if there’s one part of the evening that really stood out for me, it was the burning of the Wicker Man. Taking place at 8.30pm, it was a spectacular way to finish the evening. As the Welsh-language words and spells rang out, I found myself feeling a real connection to my Celtic and pagan roots. There’s something incredibly special about hearing Welsh spoken as part of an event celebrating folklore, tradition and our cultural heritage. The burning itself was symbolic and atmospheric, and I certainly wasn’t the only person who felt a sense of pride in that moment. Looking around, I could see others taking it all in too. For me, it was more than just a dramatic Halloween finale. It was a celebration of Welsh identity, folklore and the traditions that make our culture so special. It genuinely gave me goosebumps! Food, facilities and things to know before visiting There were food vendors around the traditional fairground, along with a sweet shop and traditional fish and chips. One thing I’d mention for anyone with dietary requirements is that I personally couldn’t find any gluten-free food options during our visit. Hopefully, this is something that could be considered for future events. A few useful things to know before you go: Event dates: 29–31 October. Doors open: 5.30pm. Wicker Man burning: 8.30pm. Tickets: This is a ticket-only event. Book early as tickets sell out quickly. Parking: Free parking is included after 4.30pm. Clothing: This is predominantly an outdoor event, so dress for the Welsh weather! Waterproofs and wellies are recommended. Bring a torch: You’ll be exploring the site after dark. Cash: Bring some cash for the traditional fairground and Makers Market. Dogs: Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted. Would I recommend Halloween at St Fagans? Absolutely! We had a fantastic evening, and it’s lovely to see St Fagans continuing to create events that bring families together while celebrating Welsh history and culture. From the brilliant actors and spooky storytelling to the spell-making workshop, traditional fairground and unforgettable Wicker Man finale, there really was something for all of us. My boys had a brilliant time, I got my fix of Welsh folklore and spooky atmosphere, and we all went home with some lovely memories. If you’re looking for something a little different to do with the family next Halloween, I’d highly recommend keeping an eye out for the return of St Fagans Halloween Nights. St Fagans, you’ve done it again! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I need another doughnut… and perhaps a little time to recover from all that spooky excitement! Have you visited St Fagans Halloween Nights? I’d love to hear what you thought of it! Welsh Mummy Blogs Family Fun EventsFamily FriendlyKidsReview
